سلام دوستان .امروز با چند اصطلاح انگلیسی اومدمُ .اصطلاحاتی که در اونها از انواع بوشاک استفاده شده.

as easy as ABC

بسیار آسان

Learning how to use a computer was as easy as ABC for the children.

back to basics

-روش یا متد قدیمی تدریس که در گذشته موثر واقع می شد.

The teacher believed that back to basics was important in her classroom and the parents were happy with the results.

بدتر یا پایین تر از حد متوسط

Most members of the class were below average in the math test.

bookworm

کسی که خیلی درس می خواند

My sister is a bookworm and is always reading a book.

call the roll

حضور و غیاب کردن دانش آموزان

Every morning before the class started the teacher called the roll.

catch up to (someone or something)

سخت کار کردن برای رسیدن به کسی یا چیزی کا از شما بالاتر است

After my illness I had to study very hard to catch up to the rest of the class.

copycat

کسی که کار دیگران را کپی می کند

The children called the girl a copycat when they discovered that she had copied part of the test from another student.

count noses

شمردن تعداد افراد

The teacher stopped to count noses several times during the field trip.

cow college

باز کردن کتاب برای خواندن(خواندن سطحی)

- در پاسخ سئوال خود چیزی نشنیدن

کسی که بسیار سخت کوش و با انگیزه است

جاهی خالی را پر کردن(در تمرین یا امتحان)

We had to fill in the blanks for most of the questions on the test.

flunk out

پاس نکردن یک درس یا مردود شدن

The boy was very smart but he always flunked out of his language class.

اصطلاحات عاشقانه

love

 جذب کسی شدن :catch someone's eye:

 "The shy man at the back of the class caught my eye."

 به کسی علاقه داشتن :to fancy someone (British English):

"My friend fancies you!"

 تمام فکر خود را مشغول شخص خاصی کردن :to have a crush on someone:

 "When I was at school, I had a crush on a film star."

 برای کسی غش و ضعف رفتن :to have a soft spot for someone:

"She has a soft spot for Richard - he can’t do anything!"

 احساس عشق آتشین به کسی :to have the hots for someone :

"She's got the hots for the new office manager."

با کسی قرار گذاشتن: to go out with someone (British English):

 "They've been going out together for years!"

  با کسی بیرون رفتن(جنس مخالف ):to go steady):

 "They've been going steady since their first year at university."

 عاشق کسی شدن: to fall for someone:

 "He always falls for the wrong types!"

 شدیدا عاشق کسی شدن :to fall head over heels for someone:

"He fell head over heels for her."

 فقط جذب یک شخص شدن: to have eyes only for:

"He's dropped all his old friends, now that he has eyes only for Susie."

سوگلی کسی بودن(در ارتباطات خانوادگی از طرف شخص بزرگتر:

to be the apple of someone's eye =

 "She's the apple of her father's eye."

 عاشق کسی بودن: to be smitten by someone:

 

 "I first met him at a party and from that evening on, I was smitten."

 جایی که دو عاشق زندگی می کنند(آشیانه عشق): a love-nest

 "They made a love-nest in the old basement flat."

دارای احساس گرم عاشقانه :to be loved-up (British English):

"They are one loved-up couple

معشوق کسی بودن: to be the love of someone's life:

 "He has always been the love of her life

 عشق دوران نوجوانی: puppy love

Smell a Rat

How come the front door is open? Didn't  you close it before we went shopping? 

I'm sure I did. I can't understand it. Frankly, I smell a rat.

Me, too. I'm convinced that something is definitely wrong here. We'd better call the police.

Fishy

When the security guard saw a light in the store after closing hours, it seemed to him that there was something fishy going on. He called the central office and explained to his superior that he thought something strange and suspicious was occurring.

 وقتیکه گارد امنیتی پس از ساعت تعطیلی نوری را در مغازه دید به نظر می رسید واقعه مشکوکی در حال انجام است. او با  اداره مرکزی تماس گرفت و به مافوقش گفت که اتفاق عجیب و مشکوکی در حال جریان است.
